Heinz Ketchup Art Winner
Apolonia Sebastian, a Wills Valley Elementary second grade student, won her grade nationally in this year's Heinz Ketchup Creativity Contest. Representatives from Heinz visited Fort Payne to present Sebastian and the school with their prizes, totaling $3,000.

Apolonia received a $1,000 cash prize and the art program, directed by Lindy Groat, received $1,000 in art supplies. The WVES child nutrition program received $1,000 worth of Heinz ketchup and a poster of the winning artwork.

Apolonia was one of 36 finalists across the nation. There were more than 26,000 entries in the contest.
Online Payment System for Student Lunch Accounts
The child nutrition program has a new online payment system available for parents. Each parent can now set up an account at www.payforit.net that enables you to make online payments to your child's lunch account, check the balance of your child's lunch account, and set up email alerts to let you know when your child's lunch account reaches a low balance. Parents can also set up recurring payments to replenish your child's lunch account when it gets low.

The charge for making online payments is 5.75% of the total amount you deposit online. Example- If you deposit $20.00, you will be charged a $1.15 processing fee that goes directly to the card processing company. The child nutrition program does not receive any of the card processing fees. The card processing company accepts debit cards and credit cards.

There is no charge for parents, to set up an account for your child, and use the account for checking your child's account balance and setting up email alerts. These are free services. You will need your child's student ID# (lunch account#) in order to set up an account for your child.

The online payment system, for the child nutrition program, is an optional service for parents. Parents may continue to send payments, for student lunch accounts, to the school with your child.
National School Lunch Program
The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) was signed into law by President Harry Truman in 1946. The NSLP provides nutritionally balanced low-cost and free meals to students.

*Over the course of one week, lunches must provide 1/3 of the Recommended Dietary Allowances of protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, iron, calcium and calories
